We have noticed an increasing trend among Salvia Extracts manufacturers to flavor their extracts. While some are adopting more sophisticated approaches, with scents uniquely tailored to survive combustion (burning of the extract) others are attempting to use regular food flavorings - a crude attempt with little chance for success -. As the industry matures, it is natural for customers to demand more product choices and features, that's why, flavored Salvia Diviorum are here to stay. Nevertheless, as the first manufacturer with flavored Salvia, who first brought the concept of adding flavor to extracts to market, we think we need to discuss the facts and myths of flavored Salvia Divinorum.
Myth: Salvia can be flavored with regular grocery flavoring.
Fact: Be our guest, and prepare to fail. Grocery store flavoring is designed for cooking - in cookies, pies and other edible foods. It's usually made with alcohol and water, which may end up stripping your finely prepared, expensive extract of salvinorins and leave an inferior product behind. Beyond that, however, you simply will not get it to work. The flavoring is not designed to survive the heat of combustion (when you burn the leaf), this means that you won't be able to smell or taste anything, or worse. In addition, while some of the grocery store flavorings are perfectly safe to use with food - in other words, edible - upon combustion (burning) they may go under a chemical change that renders them dangerous to your health.
Myth: Flavored Salvia Extract tastes exactly like fruit.
Fact: Unfortunately not. Our scents provide a unique combination of smell and taste that resembles some types of scents - in our case, spearmint, apple and strawberry - though you won't get a strong flavor sensation in your mouth. The flavor will cover the smoke feeling you'll get at the back of your throat with normal Salvia Extract. Generally, it will smooth the smoke, with a little bit of fruit flavor. Right now we're into our second generation flavoring. Maybe in the future it's gonna be possible to give you a real "just like fruit" experience.
